WELCOME TO mitchell-neilson schools

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Mitchell-Neilson- A Leader in Me School!  This promises to be an exciting year and we are so happy to have you and your family join us on this journey.  It is our sincere desire to make sure your child has a wonderful experience from Preschool through 6th grade.  We want you to share in the genuine excitement that is part of the Mitchell-Neilson Schools.  The faculty and staff at each campus strive to provide a quality education and safe environment for each and every student.   We use the Leader in Me philosophy to help develop a culture of leadership by teaching, modeling, and practicing Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  We believe in differentiating instruction by integrating leadership language into our daily instruction as we help our students become the best readers, writers, thinkers, and LEADERS they can be!  The strength and unifying principle of these schools is the mutual commitment to these 7 Habits by our students, teachers, staff, and parents.  By working together, we can accomplish tremendous things!

You are expected and encouraged to play an active role in your child’s education.  There are many opportunities for you:  volunteer in your child’s classroom, join the PTO, eat lunch with your child’s class, attend parent-teacher conferences, attend field trips, etc.   Please visit us often.  We understand the importance of family and school working together to help each child succeed.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns.  I can be reached by calling the Primary at 895-2904, the Elementary at 890-7841, or by email at robin.newell@cityschools.net.

MNS Wins Top Award for Recycling in the School District
Recycling has become a top priority at MNS. The MNS Recycle Club has helped encourage and educate the school about the importance of repurposing and recycling. In doing this, MNS has lead the district in recycling with 43% of the trash being recyclables. There was a recycle campaign conducted during April to encourage students to be more mindful of how many things can be recycled. The goal was set and the school met and exceeded their goal. Student's successes were celebrated by receiving mini recycle bins. The picture below features the Recycle Club with their mini recycle bins.  READ MORE... about MNS Wins Top Award for Recycling in the School District
