Adam Bryson
It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to our wonderful school. My name is Adam Bryson, and I am the Executive Principal of Mitchell-Neilson Elementary. We are a school with deep roots in the Murfreesboro community, made up of talented educators, supportive parents, amazing community partners, and the best students you can find! Students at Mitchell-Neilson are nurtured and respected, challenged to become lifelong learners, and inspired to be active contributors to our society.
At Mitchell-Neilson, we understand the importance of developing the whole child. We offer classes in Music, Art, STEAM, and physical education daily. Technology is present in classrooms as we prepare our students for college and careers in the 21st century. Strong relationships are the foundation of our school. You will witness positive and affirming relationships between students and teachers, teachers, and parents, and I am confident that you will feel that the moment you walk into our buildings.
I know we have a great year ahead, as our team supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of your child here at Mitchell-Neilson Elementary School.

Dear Mitchell Neilson Families,
It is my honor and privilege to serve as Assistant Principal of Mitchell Neilson Primary.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from MTSU in 2000. I began my teaching career in 2001 in my hometown of Auburntown, TN, at Auburn School, the school I attended as a child. I taught 5th grade there for 9 years, and during that time, I received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from MTSU and my Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from TN Tech. In 2010, I was named Principal of Auburn School and held that position until May 2022 when the school was closed due to consolidation. I decided to begin a new journey with Murfreesboro City Schools at John Pittard Elementary teaching 5th grade Math in July 2022. Now, I am so excited to be here at historic MNP.
I feel strongly that students learn best when they feel safe, cared for, and respected. One of my favorite quotes by Rita Pierson reads, “Every kid deserves a champion-an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” I make that my goal each day-to let kids know I believe in them, to make connections with them, and let them know I expect their best.
I have one daughter, Lily, who keeps me busy with all of her sports activities. We enjoy attending church and spending time with our family and friends.
I look forward to meeting all of our families here and building upon the great traditions already in place at MNP. It’s going to be a great year!

I am so excited to be back in Murfreesboro City Schools and serve MNS students and families as Assistant Principal!
I am originally from Oak Ridge, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee with my Bachelors and Masters degrees. I earned my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2019 from Carson-Newman University. After working in multiple states and districts during my husband’s years with the US Air Force, I joined Murfreesboro City Schools in 2015 and taught at John Pittard Elementary until 2021. I served as Assistant Principal and Head Principal in Wilson County before rejoining MCS here at Mitchell-Neilson in 2024.
My husband and I have two dogs, Hamilton and Doug. We love to travel, hike and explore new places, and spend time with family. I also enjoy reading, photography, and cheering on the Vols!
I am looking forward to building relationships with our MNS students and families. It’s going to be a great year at MNS!
